Hey y'all

Its been a long time.

A really long time. To be honest, I got bored of blogging (oh I totally just said that!!) and decided to do other things.....like drive my kids cray-cray.

LOL.

Seriously, I did get bored with blogging (because I couldn't come up with good ideas) and then, well, a picture will describe what I am going to say better:

Yup, I am preggers. Remember the last entry about that god awful cold I had? Well, it was more than a cold. It was baby #3. I took a pregnancy test the 2nd week of Feburary and went into shock when it came up positive. I actually asked Brian "How the hell did this happen". The shit just smirked and said "You know."

Grrr....men. Minds are always in the gutter.

Anyways......

I am due September 27th, which ironically was my brother Mike's birthday. I am finding out what I am having next week. I will be 18 or 19 weeks depending on what due date you use.....I got two because I am all sorts of special like that.

How are the kids taking it?

Pretty good. Becky is over the moon about having a baby brother or sister (btw, she is on Team Pink). Her name choices (and yes we asked the kids what they would like the baby's name to be): Olivia or Andre.

Zach, on the other hand, is pretty upset. He doesn't like the new baby and says it is stupid and that he wants it to go away. Which is pretty normal, considering that he has been the youngest. He won't say if he wan't a baby brother or sister and the names he picked out (besides Stupid and Stupider....I made him pick real names) are Sally and Andrew.

So get used to seeing posts about this pregnancy and my bitching that go with it.

Typhoid Mary

Not exactly what I looked like but pretty damn close

That's who I feel like right now.
The original "Typhoid Mary". Not me!!
I have been sick since New Year's Eve with the flu and then caught a really bad cold on top of it.

So yeah, I've been miserable. I actaully went to the Dr on the 7th. The original appointment was for my headaches but she ended up checking me out because of how bad I was coughing at the appointment. She said I had wheezing and congestion but there was nothing she could do.

Da Fuc???? She gave me a prescription for cough supprestant (but only to use at night) and told me to come back if A) I spiked a fever or B) I couldn't breathe.

So, I suffered for 2 weeks. 2 weeks of not getting any sleep because I was coughing.. 2 weeks of coughing every time I took a breath in. 2 weeks of just being miserable.

I am just now feeling better.

So, if ya'll were wondering where I have been, there's my answer.

Sick as a dog and then some. I wouldn't wish whatever I had on anyone.

Hello.....

Yup, that's me

My Name is Jolie and I am a Free Kindle Book Download addict. If its free, I buy it.

I have set myself some a ground rule:

*if the pages aren't listed, no books under 500 KB. If the pages are listed, only download if 500 pages or more.

I belong to a couple of sites that send free Kindle books to my email once a day. See this post for them all.

Brian cannot believe how many books I have on my Kindle. He thinks I am insane but does appreciate that I give him heads up when sci-fi books come up as free. Go figure.

I do say that in the 2 years that I have had my Kindle, I have only had to buy 2 books. The Help and The Hunger Games box set. Which cost me all of $30 combined. Everything else has been free.

Laundry

Since everyone has been sick (me, Zach, Brian and now Becky), I figured it was time to wash the sheets, pillow cases and comforters on all beds.

Yeah, that is working out well.

See, realistically, I need one of these

to help me do laundry.

It would be nice....just a wave of the wand and everything would be wash, dried and folded.

Normally, I wouldn't complain about doing laundry. I am the rare person who actually likes doing it. But I am still feeling crappy, Becky is home sick and Brian is working from home this week. So, I have limited space to fold and to steam (instead of ironing, I have a steamer).

Well, I am off...lol. More laundry to do.

Da Flu

sucks ass.  Even though I got the flu shot, I got the upper respiratory part of this flu outbreak. I have been coughing for 2 weeks straight and I sound like a frigging barking dog.

When I went to the Dr on Monday, she said that there was really nothing that she could do....just ride it out. She did give me a prescription cough medicine. Which really didn't do anything but make me feel like I was high and knocked me out for 4 hours. After it wore off, I still woke myself up coughing.

And today took the cake. I was babysitting my nephew (and filling out Zach's kindergarten registration forms) when out of left field I started getting sick to my stomach. Then I got extremely tired. To the point where I couldn't keep my eyes open. Dangerous with an inquisitive 1 year old. My mother called right around then, I told her how I felt and she came right home.

Did I rest once she got home? I tried to but Zach decided that laying on top of me and chatting my ear off would be fun. So after 20 mins of listening to him talk about everything (from nose hair to Power Rangers to chinchilla feet....don't ask). So I got up, posted a couple of blogs on my book review blog and watched back to back episodes of Pound Puppies, Strawberry Shortcake and a couple of other cartoons.

I still feel pretty crappy. I know people who have had this for 4 weeks and Boston declared a state of emergency because of the flu.

Yay :P

Book review: Jared's Island by John R Thayer

Jared's Island

Length of book: 258 pages

Published: CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform

ISBN: 1479308811

Synopsis via Shelfari:

Jared is an amazing 11 year old boy who falls between the cracks of the foster care program. He quickly finds himself all alone in the world and decides he can no longer depend on strangers in government agencies who say they are acting in his best interest. He heads out on his own, sets sail in a small boat and soon finds himself on an island with a man who has a dark past and many secrets. The island is also not what it seems.

My review:

This was a cute book. A little sad but it was cute. I felt really bad for Jared. Abandoned by his foster parents and abused by previous ones, he decides to head out on his own because no one will miss him. I can only imagine how many kids this happens to in real life. Slip through the cracks in the system. Very sad.

The relationship between Sam and Jared was very interesting. It started off as Jared being a temporary guest (and a pain in the ass to Sam) and evovled to Sam caring for Jared and wanting the best in life for him....even if that meant loosing him to Florida's foster care system. What also was interesting was the story of Sam's daughter and wife and the reappearance of his daughter.

The secondary stories (Sam's daughter, the police investigation) were tied together very neatly near the end of the book. It was tied up a little two neatly, with everything being resovled. But I needed to read a book like that....lol.

Picky, Picky

What Becky is with food lately.

Nothing I make is good for her. This week, I have made: Pasta with sauce....hated it, BBQ Sloppy Joes.....hated it and tonight, Chicken Italiano.....hated it.

WTF.

According to her, she likes: potatoes and cup o noodles....nothing else. I even made her baked chicken drumsticks (her absolute favorite food) and she said "Yucky). When I ask her and when I say no to the above items, she will say "whatever" and not answer me.

To be honest, I wouldn't care if she didn't like my food and won't eat it...except Zachary is copying her. Which isn't cool. He needs the calories (as she does...they are both skinny).

She does get in trouble for not eating whats on her plate. Tonight, she got a 1/2 hour shaved off of her TV time....which meant instead of the hour she usually gets, she got 1/2 hour. Other nights, she has lost TV completely and her DSI.

I'm hoping that this is just a phase and that she will go back to eating what I cook. Because its getting old and I really am getting sick of it.
